Fenty Beauty: Are You A Trophy Wife?
So, before I purchased a few products from Rihanna’s first range I watched one, maybe two (okay maybe more) reviews on YouTube and the general consensus was a positive feedback. A few mentioned that they didn’t get their correct shade – being that she has 42 different shades and some said that it did oxidise after a few hours. Despite the reviews I headed straight to the website and ordered the foundation and concealer stick (bearing in mind I had no clue what shade I would be)! Call me a crazy risk taker! I took a risk and ordered one close enough (or i thought to be) to my skin tone.
The foundation is amazing (matched me perfectly!), the coverage is flawless and buildable – it also lasts pretty much all day. The concealer however, was a bit dry which meant that I had to really wet my beauty blender before application.
We’ve all seen the Fenty Beauty raves across all social media channels, if you haven’t – i guess I’m right to assume that you live under a rock! Did it live up to its hype? – Personally, for me, it did. I think Rihanna did an amazing job catering to the range of skin tones that she did. Although, my no measure an exhaustive range of skin tones, it was pretty good for a first launch.
From the primer to the blotting paper she provided everything needed to create that perfect ‘beat’ face so hats off to her!
Now lets talk about her recent Galaxy collection, I’m not a fan of glittery makeup but I really like her range of lipsticks and eye liners, very different and fitting for this autumn season. As we all know Rhianna to be a very out there and experimental character and she definitely show that off in her makeup range as it allows us as consumers to channel our inner Rihanna and be more expressive with our make up choices. So here’s to stepping out of our comforts and becoming more creative with makeup. I will sit the palette out though.
I know many females have loved the whole collection from Fenty Beauty and rightly so, she has a name and she made the right buzz, marketing and PR and received a well deserved entrance into the beauty industry. What is my verdict? Whilst i am proud of my girl Rih, there is definitely more than needs to be done in this space and with her collections and I just think a few products could have catered to more skin types.
Looking forward to see what she has up her sleeve next though 🙂
Will Fenty Beauty survive against the industry giants? It’s a waiting game….
